RENEWED LIFE MINISTRY TEAM:
Executive Director: Rev. Karen L. Reyes:
· I started Renewed Life Ministry in Kearneysville, WV in 2005 with a vision to assist those in the community that need basic items to help them in their daily lives. I am a licensed minister through The National Association of Christian Ministers. I have been involved in outreach ministries/organizations since 1995 after I became a Christian at the age of 31. Our mentor program to young women (and their children) helps build stronger families.
Theressa Robinson:
· I have 6 children and 15 grandchildren three of which I am raising. I volunteered for raven house food center for six years (a food pantry in Hagerstown MD.) I began to volunteer for Renewed Life Ministry several years ago. I was born and raised in Williamsport, MD. I now reside in Winchester, VA. I really enjoy helping other people to the best of my ability, as well as working together with other people to improve the ministry.
Renee Geiger:
· I was born in Baltimore, Maryland but grew up in both New York and Maryland. I attended James Madison University, was married in 1974, and graduated in 1976 with an AA in both Library Science and English. I taught Art and Drama at Faith Christian School in Sterling Virginia for 15 years. After that for the next 11 years I was a Special Ed. Assistant with Loudoun County Public Schools primarily with autistic children. It was always my goal upon retirement to work at and support a community food pantry. I am very pleased to be supporting it with donations of food, supplies and clothing.
Noemi Lucero:
· I was born and raised in Texas, with 5 older brothers and a twin sister. I've served in the U.S. Army as a medic for over 10 years, currently stationed in MD. I began attending Church of the Ascension in Feb 2021 where I discovered Renewed Life Ministry through its founder, Karen Reyes. I have been supporting the ministry ever since, and don’t plan to slow down. I am grateful and honored to be a part of a ministry that truly serves with humility and the love of Christ to provide, support, and mentor families in need. I only pray I can be a blessing to others as it has been for me.
Lucy Martinez-Brewer:
· My name is Lucy Martinez-Brewer. I was born in Alexandria, Virginia but moved to El Paso, Texas at age two and spent 18 years there. Despite all these hard life circumstances, I did see God’s hand in our lives throughout the 18 years we lived there. After much healing, I would say that I’m now thankful for these experiences and they have made me who I am today. In 2000, God opened a door for us to move back to Northern Virginia. My passion for people grew and I became an ordained minister and executive director of a non-profit that serves the local community. Over the years, I have also served as head of Stephen’s Ministry, recovery ministry, Celebrate Recovery leader, youth minister, head of adult divorce groups, Dave Ramsey Financial Peace leaders, Generosity Feeds event coach, and volunteer Coordinator in many organizations including The Salvation Army. My job or “ministry” is real estate. I’ve simultaneously been in real estate for most of my volunteerism years.
Alex Rivas:
· Alex joined Renewed Life Ministry’s Leadership team in 2020. He has been an integral part of the ministry with fundraising, especially the auctions that we use to raise funds. Alex is a firefighter/paramedic, a vestry (board) member of Church of the Ascension in Charles Town, WV. He has finished his master program in divinity. He is in a master's program for Mental Health Counseling through Liberty University. He was a youth pastor for many years before attending Church of the Ascension. Alex is also well-traveled in missions, as his heart is to reach those that don’t know The Lord.
Sarah Smith:
· My name is Sarah Smith. I was born in Russia and was adopted and brought to United States when I was about 10. It was an abusive household. After being taking away from that house, I was adopted once again into my current family at age 16. I have been able to benefit from Renewed Life Ministry in the past as a single mother. I am now married, the mom of three beautiful girls. Happy and thanks to my past, there is a great passion for helping others. Knowing what’s it’s like to struggle and feel hopeless brings me joy to be part of this ministry so we can be there for someone else. I assist the ministry with organizational skills.
Brandi Kelly:
· Brandi has 3 children (1 bonus) and is married to Ronald Kelly jr. She has experience teaching at a Christian School, worked for APUS for several years and is now an executive administrative assistant. She has been putting our newsletters together, helping with childcare, along with her daughter Aislyn. She brings to the ministry, many skills that were lacking.
Magdelyn Girod:
· My name is Maggie and I’m the granddaughter of the ministry director, Karen Reyes! I was born and raised in WV, I have a wonderful husband named Thomas, and I teach English in Berkeley County Schools. I have a bachelor's from Rowan University and will have a master's in education from Shepherd University in the spring of 2025. I love assisting with marketing/website design and have a passion to help Renewed Life Ministry grow! I will be assisting with the ministry webiste and “marketing.”
Taylor Brauning:
· My name is Taylor, I was born and raised in WV. I spent the last 5 years in GA because I was in the Navy. While in Georgia I met my wonderful husband, Garett, who was also in the Navy.
